I hear something a lot.
“I’m lonely.”
“I feel like shit physically.”
“I think I might have a drinking problem.”
And then… nothing.
It’s like the statement itself becomes the end of the story.
Listen, I’m not minimizing real pain. Loneliness is real. Depression is real. Addiction is real. I’m not pretending those things are easy.
But here’s what blows my mind.
It never occurs to some people that you can actually do something about it.
If you’re lonely, yes, modern society kind of sucks at friendship. Fine. So become the kind of person people want to be around. Go somewhere. Join something. Call someone. Invite someone. Risk being awkward.
You don’t cure loneliness by sitting in your house diagnosing it.
If you feel like shit physically, you don’t need a $300 membership and a custom protein blend.
Go walk.
Go outside. Lift something heavy. Do ten pushups. Do something. Download and use a tool to help you like the Operator Standard App.
You don’t fix your body by researching it to death.
And if you genuinely think you’re developing a drinking problem?
There is literally a meeting somewhere tonight.
You don’t have to wait until it’s catastrophic. You don’t have to wait until you hit bottom. You can pick up the phone.
What’s wild to me is how often we identify a problem… and then treat it like a personality trait.
“I’m just lonely.”
“I’m just out of shape.”
“I’m just bad with alcohol.”
No.
You’re in a pattern and patterns can change.
You don’t need to solve your entire life tomorrow.
You just need to interrupt the pattern once.
Go somewhere. Call someone. Move your body. Ask for help.
There is so much more in your control than you think.
But you have to move.
Sitting with the problem and narrating it is not the same as confronting it.
And confronting it might be uncomfortable.
Good.
So is staying stuck.
