If you’re trying to be a great spouse, a solid parent, and actually good at what you do…
You’re going to screw up.
A lot.
You’re going to say the wrong thing.
Miss something important.
Drop a ball.Lose your patience.
Blow a goal you were sure you’d hit.
That’s not a character flaw.
It’s simply math.
The more arenas you step into, the more chances you have to fall short.
Now, there is a way to solve this.
Shrink your life.
Lower your standards.
Stop trying so hard.
Don’t aim at big things.
Then, you won’t feel the sting of missing nor losing.
But…you’ll also feel nothing.
The guy who never feels like he failed usually isn’t swinging at anything that matters.
If you’re feeling disappointed in yourself, good. That probably means you’re actually trying.
The answer isn’t to spiral. And it’s not to narrate your own downfall.
It’s to wake up tomorrow and take another shot.
Because missing a lot usually means you’re in the arena.
And I’d rather miss big than sit comfortable and small pretending that’s peace.
