Choose Your Words. Choose Your Life.

If you Google it or ask ChatGPT, it’ll tell you the average person uses something like 13 to 16 thousand words a day. Spoken or written. That’s a lot of words. A sentence takes a couple seconds. Doesn’t feel like much. Until you realize you’re burning through hours of your life one sentence at a time.

That got me thinking about the people I know who are actually successful and proud of their lives. They’re not obsessed with efficiency because they want to be machines. They’re obsessed with it because they’re painfully aware this whole thing is finite. You don’t get extra time for being opinionated.

Which is why it was wild to watch people spend days arguing online about whether they were going to watch the Bad Bunny halftime show or the Kid Rock alternative halftime show.

Days.

Paragraphs. Threads. Think pieces. People acting like their choice was some deep moral stand instead of a half hour chunk of entertainment that will be forgotten by the next commercial break. Thousands of words, proudly donated to something that has absolutely zero impact on their actual life.

Before anyone freaks out, no, I’m not anti entertainment. I’m not anti music. I’m not anti fun. Relax. The issue isn’t watching the show. The issue is how much time and language people are willing to torch defending opinions that don’t build anything, fix anything, or move their life forward one inch.

I’ve been paying attention to this in my own life. I still joke around. I still talk shit. But more and more, I’m trying to make sure the words I use at least do something useful. Let my wife and kids know I love them. Move the needle on my business or personal goals. Otherwise, what the fuck am I doing?

When you realize you’re spending fifteen thousand words a day whether you like it or not, it forces a better question.

Is this really what I want to spend my words on?

Because honestly… nobody’s got time for that.
